[ V-Day, dessert shop. He's technically not supposed to be texting right now. ]

I was thinking dinner and a movie. Maybe whatever equivalent of Netflix they got here, avoid the crowds?

We have that at the house, on every TV, I think. I could make us dinner, if you'd like?

Sounds great. You need me to pick up anything?

This kitchen is magically stocked, so I'm good. Just bring yourself.

See you there at 5, 5.30? [ He needs a shower after this hellish day of sugary treats. Also, he will totally bring her a sugary treat. ]

[ God, he's going to get fired if he keeps this goofy grin up. ]

[ And she's going to spend the day getting ready and making super fancy, gourmet, awesome burgers (with a side of mac and cheese) since they are his favorite.]

[ She's the actual best girlfriend a guy can wish for. He finishes up his shift, stopping by his temporary home for a shower and a change of clothes, and then heads out to the Meadows. It's still a bit nerve-wracking, being out here on the farm that swarms with attractive young men but it's all worth it and his hopes lie with her being in her room so he can go through the side door rather than awkwardly find his way through the main house.

Knock knock. ]

[ Attractive mostly gay men, Jug. Don't worry, Betty's only got eyes for you and that has to be clear by the way she makes his favorite food for their meal. He's right on time and when he knocks, he's in luck. She opens the side door to her room, wearing a red dress, the smell of delicious food wafting their direction.

She's got their dinner set out on trays near the couches, the TV is fired up and ready to play whatever they choose to watch and yes, she's definitely lit some candles because... romance.]

Hey, [ she says with a smile, cheeks immediately flushing.]

[ Hey, he can be insecure about his looks around gay men too! Not that it matters too much when she looks as stunning as she does in that candlelight, enough so that he's completely off track for a moment or two. ]

You look great. I mean, you always look great but... wow. [ C'mon Jug. ] I brought some tiramisu from work... and this. Since you never got your Christmas present.

[ He holds out a sparsely wrapped present for her to take. Inside, there's a leather bound journal. ]

[ Well, that's the reaction she'd been looking for. She can't help but smile, murmuring a word of thanks as she takes the tiramisu.] Thank you.

[ When he offers her the gift, she takes that too, moving to usher him in so she can give him his gift too, a simply wrapped, first edition, signed copy of In Cold Blood by Truman Capote. ]

Come sit. Dinner's ready. [ She moves to sit on the sofa, setting down the dessert before she holds up her wrapped gift.] Should I open it now?

[ And inside he goes, feeling more comfortable with her perfect room with every moment he spends in it. There's already some good memories here and he has no doubt that their very first Valentine's Day will add some more to that tally. ]

Smells good. [ He joins her on the sofa, holding the gift carefully in his hands. He's curious what she's found. ] Together?

[ As time passes, her room has become more and more homier, a little less pristine and more lived in. Not every pillow is perfectly positioned, the books aren't color coordinated anymore.] Yes, [ she smiles her warmest, happiest smile as she moves to start to open her gift, glancing at him as he undoubtedly starts on his.

Once she gets the wrapping off, she grins at the gift then at him, pulling on the bindings to look inside.] Jug, I love it.

[ He opens his too, initially casting glances to see her reaction to the gift, but it doesn't take long before he's too distracted with what she got him. Wow. Wow wow wow. ]

Where did you get this?

[ She grins at him.] So the bookcases here can pretty much pull out any book ever. [ She moves to press a kiss to his jaw before she leans over the arm of the couch to grab a bigger, more hefty bag to hand to him.] This, this I got you. No magic.

[ With her own money. No magic cheating. Inside is a laptop. It's a refurbished laptop, it isn't shiny spanking new but it's better than nothing, and hey, it's a nice model.]

[ He raises a brow - that's really good to know, for Reasons - but any discussion about how cool a first edition signed copy of In Cold Blood is, regardless if it's magically conjured or not, is soon completely forgotten. ]

Betty... [ He's just looking at it in disbelief and yes it's refurbished but it's a laptop that works (he guesses) and although he's only been here a short while, the withdrawal is real. ] This is... this is amazing. Thank you.

[ She's getting so kissed right now. ]

I figured you're going to need one while you're here and this place won't really feel anything like a home without it. [ She wishes she could give him a brand new one. She could have asked Ronan for some supped up version of a Mac but it felt better, giving him something she'd gotten herself.

After all, She'd been getting a steady paycheck for a while now and paying bills wasn't really something she had to do where she lives. Spending it on as nice a laptop as she could afford for the guy she loved felt right. She grins at him, when he seems happy to get it.

And when he pulls her into a kiss, she doesn't hesitate to return it, her hand moving to touch his cheek.]

[ This is more than perfect. Even though he doesn't have all that many bills to pay, he's still working minimum wage and has to replace everything he owned back home aside from the clothes he came in with. It'll take awhile to catch up, so this is a huge deal. ]

Now we have to get something going. [ Blue and Black, or whatever they decide to call it. ] I love you, Betty.

I'm just glad you're here, [ she murmurs against his lips after he tells her he loves her, after she nods at how he says they need to start their own paper. She kisses him again before she shifts towards the coffee table.]

Okay, eat before the food gets cold. I made burgers stuffed with cheese and bacon and then a side of mac and cheese because you can never have too much cheese.

[ He's the luckiest guy in the world, no doubt about it. Taking a moment to carefully move these amazing gifts out of the way he turns his attention to the food, which of course is amazing. ]

I think that survey I did is kind of useless now, because this is hands down the best burger I've ever had.

It's not better than Pop's. [ She scoffs a little, eating some of the mac and cheese before she digs into the burger. She has to admit, they are both very good but she isn't sure she can support his statement. ]
