perfectible | (no subject)

[ He raises a brow - that's really good to know, for Reasons - but any discussion about how cool a first edition signed copy of In Cold Blood is, regardless if it's magically conjured or not, is soon completely forgotten. ]

Betty... [ He's just looking at it in disbelief and yes it's refurbished but it's a laptop that works (he guesses) and although he's only been here a short while, the withdrawal is real. ] This is... this is amazing. Thank you.

[ She's getting so kissed right now. ]

I figured you're going to need one while you're here and this place won't really feel anything like a home without it. [ She wishes she could give him a brand new one. She could have asked Ronan for some supped up version of a Mac but it felt better, giving him something she'd gotten herself.

After all, She'd been getting a steady paycheck for a while now and paying bills wasn't really something she had to do where she lives. Spending it on as nice a laptop as she could afford for the guy she loved felt right. She grins at him, when he seems happy to get it.

And when he pulls her into a kiss, she doesn't hesitate to return it, her hand moving to touch his cheek.]

[ This is more than perfect. Even though he doesn't have all that many bills to pay, he's still working minimum wage and has to replace everything he owned back home aside from the clothes he came in with. It'll take awhile to catch up, so this is a huge deal. ]

Now we have to get something going. [ Blue and Black, or whatever they decide to call it. ] I love you, Betty.

I'm just glad you're here, [ she murmurs against his lips after he tells her he loves her, after she nods at how he says they need to start their own paper. She kisses him again before she shifts towards the coffee table.]

Okay, eat before the food gets cold. I made burgers stuffed with cheese and bacon and then a side of mac and cheese because you can never have too much cheese.

[ He's the luckiest guy in the world, no doubt about it. Taking a moment to carefully move these amazing gifts out of the way he turns his attention to the food, which of course is amazing. ]

I think that survey I did is kind of useless now, because this is hands down the best burger I've ever had.

It's not better than Pop's. [ She scoffs a little, eating some of the mac and cheese before she digs into the burger. She has to admit, they are both very good but she isn't sure she can support his statement. ]

Okay, I stand corrected. To be fair, Pop's is in a league of its own. [ So unfair to compare anything to, really. It's not about the burgers, it's about the place and the memories and everything that made them fight so hard for it to stay open. ]

What do you miss the most from home? Not a person.

[ At his question, she hesitates, thinking about it for a moment.] Would it be weird to say my parents?

No, I don't think that's weird. [ He pauses, brows furrowed. He has a lot of feelings about this. ] Even if your mom's crazy, she'll always be your mom.

[ She nods in agreement. Her relationship with her parents is complicated to say the least but she still loves them.] And Polly. I always miss her. [ But she's used to missing her by now. She looks at him now, picking up the burger before she asks:]

And you?

Pop's. I think I've spent more time there than anywhere else. [ At least lately. ] And dad, of course. I mean, I'm kind of used to not having him around but at least back home it was an option.

[ No mention of mom, who wouldn't even let him visit in Toledo, couldn't even hear how out of options he was. ]

[ She reaches out to touch his leg comfortingly.] The good thing is... you'll see him again.

[ He leans over to nudge their shoulders together. ] When we go home, right? With no memory of this place.

Honestly, I'm not in any rush.

[ She feels ashamed to admit it but:] Neither am I. [ She looks at him with a soft smile.] I wonder if this will be our only chance to be anywhere close to a normal couple. [ And how will they fare? ]

[ It's a little scary to think about. He's always blamed their problems on always being in a terrifying situation, but what if that's what's been keeping them together? ]

I don't know... I think we had a good run a couple of months back. A whole half-hour without crazy nuns, serial killers or drug dealers.

Now it's just superheroes and supervillains. And going to the moon. [ She says with a wry smile, taking another bite of macaroni and cheese.]

Whoa whoa, back up. The moon?

[ She grins at him, nodding.] Yeah, we can go to the moon. I have been to the moon. You should see the dress I wore to the party there. [ She pauses.] It was basically Adam's brainchild.

[ Ah, Adam. Of course Adam. He tries not to show the sting of lingering jealousy - over nothing, really, and he knows it but that doesn't make it any easier to get over. ]

I would've liked to see that. [ The homecoming dance wasn't so great. They have a lot to catch up on here. ]

[ She dances around mentioning Adam as much as she can because their meeting hadn't gone exactly smoothly. And well, Jughead had a good reason to feel unhappy about the situation. She glances at him before continuing.]

We could go together sometime.

[ Could've gone worse but yeah, out of all the Raven boys he's met so far, talking to Adam was the most awkward. ]

Have a picnic date on the moon? [ He jokes but honestly, he could be down with that idea. ]

We can't go outside exactly but yes, we could definitely go on a date on the moon:

I'm starting to like this place. [ He smiles, before turning his attention to what little's left of his food. ] This was really good, Betty. Seriously.

[ She eats her fill too, smiling when he compliments her.] I'm glad it all turned out okay. [ She moves to stack their dishes and such, she'll worry about cleaning it up later. Standing, she turns towards the TV which is across from her bed and the couch.] So... What do you want to watch? [ And where? ]

[ He gets up from the couch, lingering while she stacks the dishes. ]

Depends on what they got, I guess... and how cliché we want to be. [ He could actually go for a cheesy rom-com in bed - of course bed, and of course he's staying the night. ]
