perfectible | (no subject)

It's not better than Pop's. [ She scoffs a little, eating some of the mac and cheese before she digs into the burger. She has to admit, they are both very good but she isn't sure she can support his statement. ]

Okay, I stand corrected. To be fair, Pop's is in a league of its own. [ So unfair to compare anything to, really. It's not about the burgers, it's about the place and the memories and everything that made them fight so hard for it to stay open. ]

What do you miss the most from home? Not a person.

[ At his question, she hesitates, thinking about it for a moment.] Would it be weird to say my parents?

No, I don't think that's weird. [ He pauses, brows furrowed. He has a lot of feelings about this. ] Even if your mom's crazy, she'll always be your mom.

[ She nods in agreement. Her relationship with her parents is complicated to say the least but she still loves them.] And Polly. I always miss her. [ But she's used to missing her by now. She looks at him now, picking up the burger before she asks:]

And you?

Pop's. I think I've spent more time there than anywhere else. [ At least lately. ] And dad, of course. I mean, I'm kind of used to not having him around but at least back home it was an option.

[ No mention of mom, who wouldn't even let him visit in Toledo, couldn't even hear how out of options he was. ]

[ She reaches out to touch his leg comfortingly.] The good thing is... you'll see him again.

[ He leans over to nudge their shoulders together. ] When we go home, right? With no memory of this place.

Honestly, I'm not in any rush.

[ She feels ashamed to admit it but:] Neither am I. [ She looks at him with a soft smile.] I wonder if this will be our only chance to be anywhere close to a normal couple. [ And how will they fare? ]

[ It's a little scary to think about. He's always blamed their problems on always being in a terrifying situation, but what if that's what's been keeping them together? ]

I don't know... I think we had a good run a couple of months back. A whole half-hour without crazy nuns, serial killers or drug dealers.

Now it's just superheroes and supervillains. And going to the moon. [ She says with a wry smile, taking another bite of macaroni and cheese.]

Whoa whoa, back up. The moon?

[ She grins at him, nodding.] Yeah, we can go to the moon. I have been to the moon. You should see the dress I wore to the party there. [ She pauses.] It was basically Adam's brainchild.

[ Ah, Adam. Of course Adam. He tries not to show the sting of lingering jealousy - over nothing, really, and he knows it but that doesn't make it any easier to get over. ]

I would've liked to see that. [ The homecoming dance wasn't so great. They have a lot to catch up on here. ]

[ She dances around mentioning Adam as much as she can because their meeting hadn't gone exactly smoothly. And well, Jughead had a good reason to feel unhappy about the situation. She glances at him before continuing.]

We could go together sometime.

[ Could've gone worse but yeah, out of all the Raven boys he's met so far, talking to Adam was the most awkward. ]

Have a picnic date on the moon? [ He jokes but honestly, he could be down with that idea. ]

We can't go outside exactly but yes, we could definitely go on a date on the moon:

I'm starting to like this place. [ He smiles, before turning his attention to what little's left of his food. ] This was really good, Betty. Seriously.

[ She eats her fill too, smiling when he compliments her.] I'm glad it all turned out okay. [ She moves to stack their dishes and such, she'll worry about cleaning it up later. Standing, she turns towards the TV which is across from her bed and the couch.] So... What do you want to watch? [ And where? ]

[ He gets up from the couch, lingering while she stacks the dishes. ]

Depends on what they got, I guess... and how cliché we want to be. [ He could actually go for a cheesy rom-com in bed - of course bed, and of course he's staying the night. ]

It's got everything, [ of course, because if a house with magical bookcases has every book, it's got every movie or tv show on the streaming too.

Still, she feels butterflies going wild in her stomach because she has a good feeling of where they're going to be watching the movie. She fiddles with the dishes a little more before she stands and faces him, smoothing out the skirt of her dress nervously.]

So anything you want...

[ Sometimes he forgets that life can be like this and not devoured by gang wars and serial killers. Sometimes he forgets that they haven't been together that long, that the seriousness of their lives isn't necessarily a part of their relationship - they're teens in love and here they can act like it. ]

That just makes it even harder to choose. [ He steps in a little closer, taking her hands in his. ] Surprise me.

[ He can be picky and niche about movies any other day of the year. ]

[ After being forced into so many situations that not even adults have to deal with, Betty struggles with those normal teenage insecurities and nerves. She's standing in front of the boy she loves, alone with a bed mere feet away. It's not the first time they've been alone, hell, it wouldn't be the first time they've been in a bed together but she feels her nerves going haywire because this all feels different.

He takes her hands and she feels the nerves start to settle, her gaze meeting his. ] Okay, [ She nods, glancing at the TV.] TV, play... [ She pauses before she speaks.] Grosse Point Blank. [ Which is a dark romantic comedy, so... that works on many levels??? ]

[ He smiles - good choice - before making a start for the bed, her hand still in his. Even though they've spent the night together a few times now, both on purpose and by accident, there's always been the presence of parents around to keep them in check. There are no parents here and even if nothing out of the ordinary happens tonight, even if they end up falling asleep fully dressed on top of the covers, everything about this is different. ]

[ There are no curfews, there are no Alice Coopers or interrupting Serpents to worry about. It's just the two of them in her room for the rest of the night, wherever it might take them. She doesn't feel pressured either way, even if she feels those butterflies return as he guides her towards the bed.

Once they reach it, she steps out of her shoes and then moves to sit on the bed, scooting back until she hits the pillows and trusts he'll follow suit.]
