[ She looks at him with a gentle smile.] Gansey, thank you. [ She glances towards the window next to her, her expression a little hopeful when she looks back at him.] What are you doing right now?

[He smiles back at her, happy to see Betty look more like herself.]

Of course.

[He looks outside to see if there's anything that she's looking at, then back to her when she addresses him.]

Right now, nothing in particular. Why?

[ She looks something in between sheepish and shy, her gaze lowering.] I... don't really want to be alone... [ It's difficult to admit that.] if you wouldn't mind some company now...?

[For some reason, he wasn't expecting that at all.]

Oh, [is his initial ridiculous response.

He recovers with:]

Of course. I wouldn't mind at all. Would you like to remain here or go elsewhere?

[ His 'oh' gives her pause.] Please, don't feel obligated. [ She recognizes a soul that matches her own and suddenly she feels selfish for asking because like her, he wouldn't say no even if he wanted to.]

I can go to Archie's, if you need to be somewhere else.

I don't at all. I've just woken up and haven't made plans for the day.

[He moves himself further onto the nook by turning to face her more squarely, bringing one leg up to rest on the edge.]

[ She tilts her chin upward, trying to catch his gaze.] Are you sure? We can go to your room or somewhere else if you want...

[He locks eyes with her.]

Positively. I will leave location choice up to you.

It would make me feel better if you picked. [ That way she knows for sure that she's not putting him out.]

[There's a small quirk of a smile at that.]

Here is perfectly fine with me, [as he remains sitting on the edge of the nook.]

[ She moves to scoot over so Gansey can get in the nook instead of sitting on the edge uncomfortably, patting the spot next her. ]

I have a few books in here, if you want to read any of them. [ There's three true crime books, Andrew Lang's Blue Fairy Book and The Mists of Avalon. ]

[Oh! This is nice. He wasn't sure if Betty would be comfortable with him so close. He moves to the spot Betty indicates and leans back casually.]

I'll take any of your recommendations.

How do you feel about fairytales? Or Arthurian legends? [ she moves to lay back a little, to get comfortable.]

I feel very strongly about Arthurian legends.

[His eyes light up as he sits back up to look over at her.]

All of them more grandiose than the last version. King Arthur is currently a person of interest.

[ She grins a bit, moving to offer him the Mists of Avalon.] Really?

I've told you about my quest for Glendower before. It turns out it's even grander than even I could have imagined. I've found leads connecting Glendower and King Arthur directly.

[ Her eyebrows perk up at that, she's not skeptical so much as she's interested--] So did he actually exist? King Arthur?

Evidence is piling up--those legends simply dilute the truth with every retelling.

[He beams at the interest she's showing.]

So... was Glendower his contemporary?

[ She looks impressed by this idea.] And how do you do research? Do you do it here?

I do. There's plenty of information to be had that seems to be consistent with everything I know from home. There's no way to truly know for sure, of course.

[He's delighted by her interest.]

So is that what you're researching here then?

It is. I've been spending most of my spare time either at the library researching or in my room sifting through the information.
