I wasn't going to say anything, but he kind of blew up on me the other day.

I don't know if that's normal or what, but I wanted you to know.

What happened? Are you okay?

I'm fine. [ He knows how to handle hotheads by now. ] We were talking and I pointed out that some people here have a harder time adjusting than others and that we shouldn't forget about them. That set him off pretty bad.

He got mad about that? [ It was probably more than that but even so... she sighs softly.] Adam... he has a hair trigger. I never really know what will set him off. He gets intense when he loses his temper.

[ She knows firsthand.]

The day drinking probably doesn't help.

I'll talk to him. Just check in to make sure he's okay. I'm sorry he snapped at you. Don't take it too personally. He does it to everyone, even the people who love him.

Betty, people have been making snap judgments about me my entire life. What Adam said to me says more about him than it does about me.

I meant, what does it say to you about him?

That he has a lot of issues to work out, and he doesn't know how to do that so he takes it out on other people.

[ The Riverdales are pretty good at keeping that kind of stuff to themselves. He's not sure what he'd do with that information if he got it. ]

My shift ends in an hour. Maybe we should just do this while we still can.

Between me working all the time and us living in different cities, I just want to take every chance I can get to spend time with you.

[ It's frustrating, but nothing more than that. ]

You know, I could stay at your place sometime, so you don't always have to be the one rushing to the Porter.

I don't mind. [ As much as he'd like her to stay at his place sometime and as much as he doesn't feel like hanging out at the Meadows right now, he still got housemates and thin walls. It's not ideal. ]

Who knows, maybe in a couple of months I'll be able to afford a place of my own.
